About The Acadian

The Acadian is our tribute to our adopted state of Maine. From its rugged coastline to its pine laden forests, Maine will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

The Acadian offers every day carry products from our workshop on the coast of Maine. From handcrafted pens to finely stitched leather products and more, we pride ourselves on crafting high quality products with a Maine flair.

We create heirloom works from the historic, the beautiful, and the imperfect. An historic pylon from a coastal community; a piece of wood from a favorite film set; a journal cover inspired by a Maine hero — each piece is carefully crafted into a wearable artwork or treasured keepsake.

It was chance that brought our shop into being. Founder Chris Cavallari began leather and woodcrafting several years ago, and fell in love with the process, the feeling of creating, and the beauty of minor flaws—what the Japanese call wabi sabi— that add so much character and love to hand finished products.

Acadia National Park was the link to Maine for Chris growing up, and it was that link that prompted him to move there, and eventually inspired The Acadian.

At The Acadian, we hope you'll enjoy our products for many years to come. We make our pens, notebook, journal, and passport covers, and wallets to be heirloom quality, so with the proper care they can be passed down from generation to generation.

Belt Sizing

To size your new Acadian belt:

  1. Lay your current belt on a flat surface.
  2. Measure from where the leather bends back on itself at the buckle to the hole that you use most often.
  3. The number you get corresponds with the size of The Acadian belt.
This way of measuring gives a more accurate and forgiving measurement for your belt. It may not match your pant size or current belt size.
